Home Automation and Lighting Control
What is Home Automation?
Domotics = Domestic Robots. It refers to intelligent houses, meaning the use of the automation technologies and computer science applied to the home.
Domotics includes completely automated systems that control lighting, shades, appliances, HVAC, audio and video, theaters, cameras and security systems, sprinklers and pools – all from your mobile phone, control panel or computer. Domotics is used to improve the quality of life by increasing comfort, security and the same time obtaining cost and energy savings.
The Art of Automation – Make a Scene!
No, not the type that will end up on YouTube, but the type that your neighbors will be talking about for years.
In the dream of the automated home, visitors ring a doorbell, it buzzes your mobile and their image shows up there as well as on the control panel. Shades lower at sunset and lawn sprinklers take rainy days off. At bedtime, lights turn off by themselves and the temperature drops to save energy. In the morning, families awake to the smell of freshly brewed coffee while bedroom lights turn slowly up. Your music and playlists can play throughout the house through in-ceiling speakers and through rock speakers outside.
Security systems can notify you when any door in your home is opened or even close the garage door remotely. You can receive email notification when the alarm is de-activated so we know when the kids are home from school. Imagine giving your elderly or disabled parent the freedom to stay at home instead of moving them into institutional care. With home automation, you can do all of those things.
Automating an entire home may not be practical for everyone, but with Control4, it is possible. Whether it’s just your lights or your home theater you want to control, any scene you want to create is feasible. The goal of automation is to connect your appliances to each other, your home to the Web, thus connecting your home to you – whether or not you are in it. This helps any home owner by improving your homes efficiency and enhancing security.
Automation – for the Resourceful and Savvy
Whether you want to save the planet or maybe you just want to save money on your energy bills, automation gives you plenty of options to manage all of the power-consuming products in your home.
Did you know…You can reduce your impact on the environment, and your wallet, by adjust the default setting for your lights from 100 to 90 percent. Even in the kitchen you probably won’t notice the difference, but you’ll save enough energy to reduce up to 850 pounds of carbon dioxide each year—the equivalent of not driving a car for an entire month. You can also deactivate your home appliances automatically during peak hours (and receive the Reduce your Use Credit on your bill) and even set your sprinkler system to only turn on when the ground is dry.
It is because we understand technology and work with it every day that automating your home is not difficult. We work hand in hand with contractors for new construction homes and for retrofits. Automation is about making life easier.
